someone here likes it more than i do. much more. i try and try. and even try some more. nope. no more!

the beast before scaling. gas bladder is intact and extremely firm. btw, the knife isn't for scaling the fish, i use something else for that. when i'm done the scales are everywhere in my kitchen, and on my head and my front. lol... i've scaled fish many times before but this one requires strength.

the butcher is a regular at one of my pubs, and he also makes sausages for this one particular pub. he makes most things in his butcher shop himself. anyway, this is dinner tonight. making a broth as we speak, and then pea soup later. my house smells very nice! ;D

Lovely oink!

I've not had carp before but I know most Americans go crazy for catfish. I hate it. Tastes like mud to me. More carp and catfish for the lot of them. ;)

generally i don't like freshwater fish at all because of the earthy/muddy taste. i've tried many species and still couldn't 'train' my palate to like it. the worst so far is this carp. if you don't catfish stay the hell away from carp lol. i have had carp in Germany and Czech but it was mild. the rivers and ponds there are much better then? and of course maybe they have different species of carp. but anyway, this one is hor.ri.fic.

the oink lasted 3 meals. it's so good i'm picking up another one this friday when i'm on my pub crawl. eur.6.50 and the butcher smokes it himself. a very good deal, indeed.
